Indoor Golf Should Feel Like More Than a Simulator
Golf is a social game. For generations, part of what has made it special is the time spent with friends, family, coworkers and other golfers — the conversations, competition, laughs and shared experience.
Technology has made it possible to play golf indoors in more ways than ever before. At Silverwood’s, we believe the technology should enhance that social experience, not replace it.
That philosophy drives what we continue to build in Kanata: high-end simulator technology, a lively hospitality environment, comfortable spaces, food and drinks, TVs, and a team that is actually there to welcome and look after you.
If you want to focus quietly on your game, you can. If you want to bring friends together for a night out, you can do that too. If you want more privacy, more space or your own entertainment, we have an experience for that as well.
Technology We Continue to Invest In
All 10 Silverwood’s simulator bays use TrackMan 4 technology, combining radar and camera technology to capture detailed club and ball data.
We also work to keep our simulator systems current with leading software, graphics and hardware components so the experience remains smooth, responsive and visually immersive as the technology evolves.
Just as importantly, we focus on consistency across the facility. Simulator measurements, setup and calibration matter when golfers are relying on the information in front of them. Our goal is to create conditions that are as consistent as possible from bay to bay and provide accurate feedback that helps indoor golf feel as close to the outdoor game as today’s technology allows.
Experienced golfers can dig into carry distance, launch, spin, ball flight, shot shape and other data. Recreational golfers can simply pick a course, choose their tees and play. You decide how much of the technology you want to use.
Choose Your Experience
Not every golfer — or every gathering — is looking for the same thing. That’s why Silverwood’s offers three different bay experiences.
Standard Bays — 16-foot-wide simulators with barstool seating and an open layout connected to the energy of the lounge. They’re ideal for regular rounds, practice sessions and groups that enjoy being part of the overall atmosphere.
Private Bays — 17-foot-wide simulators with comfortable lounge seating and additional separation from the main lounge. They offer a quieter, more intimate setting without disconnecting you from the Silverwood’s experience.
VIP Bays — our largest and most private simulator experience, featuring a 19-foot-wide simulator, couches, additional seating, a personal TV and Bluetooth connectivity. They’re designed for guests who want additional comfort, privacy and control over their environment.
There isn’t one right way to enjoy indoor golf. Choose the experience that fits your group and enjoy it your way.
Play a Round, Practice — or Just Have Some Fun
Play Virtual Golf Courses
Choose from hundreds of virtual courses, select your tees and play nine or 18 holes. Play your own ball, try a scramble, make it competitive or simply enjoy a round with friends.
Practice Your Game
TrackMan’s practice environment lets you hit the same club repeatedly and see immediate feedback on carry distance, ball flight, shot shape, club gapping and consistency. It can be as detailed — or as simple — as you want it to be.
Games and Friendly Competitions
Not every visit needs to be about shooting a score. TrackMan also offers games and mini-competitions that can turn a simulator session into an easy-going competition for friends, families, couples, coworkers and groups.
That can be especially fun when your group includes different ages or different golf abilities. Experienced golfers can compete alongside beginners, and people who may not normally play golf can still get involved, laugh, compete and enjoy the experience.
Whether it’s bragging rights between friends, a family challenge, a date-night competition or coworkers going head-to-head, the games help make golf approachable and social for everyone.
Golf Instruction
Silverwood’s also offers golf instruction using the TrackMan simulator environment. Golf professionals can use the same shot information you see on screen to connect what’s happening in your swing with what happens to the ball. Lesson availability varies throughout the season, so check with our team for current availability.
Golf, Food, Drinks and a Real Social Atmosphere
One of the biggest differences in the Silverwood’s experience is that golf doesn’t happen in isolation.
Our full-service bar and lounge, pub-style food menu and TVs throughout the facility allow your group to eat, have a drink, catch the game and spend time together while you play.
That matters to us. We believe people are social, and golf has always been at its best when it brings people together. Silverwood’s is designed to preserve that part of the game while taking advantage of everything modern simulator technology can offer.
Come to work on your swing. Come for dinner and a round. Bring your family. Challenge your friends. Celebrate a birthday. Bring the office together. The golf can be serious; the night doesn’t have to be.
Can Beginners Play Indoor Golf?
Absolutely.
You don’t need to be an experienced golfer to enjoy Silverwood’s, and you don’t need to understand every number TrackMan puts on the screen.
Our team can help first-time guests get set up and comfortable. You can start on the practice range, play nine holes, choose tees that fit your ability, play a scramble with more experienced golfers or skip the traditional round and try one of the games instead.
Rental clubs are available through our Pro Shop, making it easier to bring someone along even if they don’t have their own equipment.
How Long Should You Book a Golf Simulator For?
One of the most common questions we receive is how much simulator time a group should reserve.
A good baseline is approximately 30 minutes per golfer for 9 holes and one hour per golfer for 18 holes.
| Group Size | 9 Holes | 18 Holes |
| 1 golfer | About 30 minutes | About 1 hour |
| 2 golfers | About 1 hour | About 2 hours |
| 3 golfers | About 1.5 hours | About 3 hours |
| 4 golfers | About 2 hours | About 4 hours |
These are guidelines rather than guarantees. Experience, format, pace of play and the amount of socializing can all affect playing time. If you’re unsure, call the Silverwood’s team at 613-595-0001 and we’ll help you choose the right amount of time.
How Simulator Pricing Works
Simulator time at Silverwood’s is charged by the bay and by the hour, not by the golfer. Your group shares the cost of the simulator time you reserve. Rates vary by bay type and season, so check the current Memberships & Rates page before booking.
What Should You Bring?
If you already golf, bring your clubs, glove and clean indoor footwear.
- Wear clean indoor shoes or running shoes
- Avoid footwear that could damage the simulator turf
- Bring clean, plain white golf balls without marker writing
- Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to swing
- Bring your golf glove if you normally use one
Don’t have clubs? Rental sets are available through the Silverwood’s Pro Shop.
Indoor Golf Isn’t Just for Winter
Ottawa winters make indoor golf an obvious choice, but Silverwood’s is open year-round. Rain, heat, cold, early sunsets and unpredictable weather don’t have to decide whether you get to play.
Indoor golf can keep your swing moving through winter, help you prepare for the outdoor season, give you a reliable place to practice, or simply provide a fun place to get together when you feel like playing.
Planning Your First Visit
- Decide who’s playing. Your group size and type of outing will help determine the best bay and booking length.
- Choose your experience. Practice, play a round, try some games or make it a social night out.
